No-Spend Weekend Guide
Free weekend plans and how to avoid spending triggers
Why Try a No-Spend Weekend?
Weekends are when a lot of our "meh" spending happens: brunch we didn't really want, a wander through shops that turns into a bag of things, takeaway because we're too tired to cook, impulse online orders on a lazy Sunday. A no-spend weekend is a simple experiment: for two days, you spend nothing beyond essentials you've planned for.
The goal isn't deprivation. It's discovering how much you can enjoy without spending, and noticing what triggers you to buy.
The Ground Rules
Write your own rules before Friday. Here's a simple starting set:
Allowed:
Essentials you've already planned (e.g. pre-bought groceries, medicine, transport you truly need)
Bills that are due
Using what you already have at home
Not allowed:
Eating out, takeaway, or coffee shops
Shopping (in person or online), including "just browsing"
Paid entertainment or new subscriptions
My personal exceptions (be honest and keep them few): ______________________________________________
Friday: Prepare (30 Minutes)
[ ] Check the fridge and pantry. Plan three or four simple meals from what you have. Buy anything you need on Friday, before the weekend starts.
[ ] Plan one treat at home: a homemade dessert, a fancy breakfast, popcorn and a film.
[ ] Pick 2–3 activities from the ideas below.
[ ] Tell your household or friends you're doing a no-spend weekend. Suggest free plans together.
[ ] Log out of shopping apps or move them off your home screen.
[ ] Leave cards at home when you go out (carry ID and an emergency option only if you need it for safety).
